Hands-on Data Protection workshop
Event details
Location: Online
Date: 27.1.2026 & 29.1.2026
Time: 12:00–15:00 EET
Learn about data protection in practice in this two-day workshop.
The goals for this two-day workshop are practical: to familiarise participants with the concepts of data protection in research, actually minimise/pseudonymise/anonymise personal data in many of its forms, and use modern techniques for working with personal/sensitive data. This is a six-hour (in total) workshop that requires active participation and group work to complete tasks.
Who can participate?
Anyone who works with personal data in all its forms (background variables from questionnaires, medical images, health data, geospatial location data, speech, videos, pictures, etc). Active participation is required, so you will need to have access to a computer equipped with a microphone and keyboard during the workshop. Webcam is not required.
The workshop is free and open to all, but we will use CSC Sensitive Data services for the hands-on part: if you are not affiliated to a Finnish research organisation, you will not be able to get access to the CSC Sensitive Data services.
