Service catalogue is published

The LUMI AI Factory has published its first service catalogue. Bringing together world-class supercomputing, high-value data, and AI expertise, the new offering supports startups, SMEs, organisations, and researchers at every stage – from exploring high-performance computing (HPC) to scaling advanced AI models.

With expert guidance, tailored training, and access to one of the world’s most powerful supercomputers, LUMI, the AI Factory empowers innovators in industry and academia to turn ideas into reality. The service catalogue is now live, highlighting the first set of services available:

Computing and data

  • Small computing package: Quick and simple access to the LUMI supercomputer. Ideal for entry-level users needing quick access to computing resources. Free for AI startups and SMEs.
  • Medium computing package: For users with HPC experience looking to scale AI projects. Free for AI startups and SMEs.
  • Large computing package: Substantial resources for ambitious AI challenges. Access via a short application, evaluated on technical feasibility, innovation, and impact. Up to one year free for startups and SMEs.
  • AI or HPC optimisation consultation: Tailored expert support for code profiling and optimisation for efficient use of LUMI.
  • Distributed AI model training: Expert help with scaling, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • AI method consultation: Guidance in choosing and implementing the correct AI methods for larger and complex tasks.
  • Dataset-as-a-Service: Curated selection of high-quality datasets close to HPC resources. Researchers can focus on AI development while providers retain ownership and control of shared datasets. Data providers can also share high-value datasets with a wider community while keeping full control and ownership.

Training

  • Tailored AI training: Training programs adapted to diverse use cases, ensuring effective use of the LUMI environment.
  • Training in large-scale AI & HPC: Courses, hackathons, and workshops on large-scale AI.

Skills and expertise

  • Computing or data resources application support: Guidance on accessing computing and data resources for AI projects.
  • HPC & AI project implementation support: Expert consultation for AI/HPC projects.
  • AI expert talks: Invite LUMI specialists to share insights and expertise at events.
  • Grant application consultation: Expert guidance on the AI and HPC parts of funding proposals – ensuring technical feasibility and a seamless fit with the LUMI AI Factory environment.

These services mark just the beginning. The LUMI AI Factory roadmap outlines upcoming milestones as the offering continues to expand.

How to get started?

Currently, the LUMI AI Factory operates on the LUMI supercomputer, one of the world’s most powerful HPC and AI platforms. Through the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (JU), half of LUMI’s resources are made available to innovators and researchers across Europe via several different access calls, while the other half is distributed among consortium countries via national allocation processes.

For startups, SMEs, and academic researchers, access is free of charge – provided results are published in line with scientific practice. For projects that remain private, as well as for larger companies, resources are available at competitive rates.

See the Computing time section on for more detailed information about resource allocation.
