Leading the way in European supercomputing

Our funder EuroHPC Joint Undertaking

The European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) is a collaborative initiative that brings together the European Union, participating countries, and private partners to make Europe a global leader in supercomputing. Established in 2018 and based in Luxembourg, EuroHPC JU funds and operates state-of-the-art supercomputers across Europe, helping researchers, businesses, and public institutions tackle complex challenges in science, industry, and society.

Building on this foundation, EuroHPC JU has expanded its focus to include artificial intelligence through the creation of AI Factories across Europe. These advanced ecosystems, centred around AI-optimised supercomputers, provide startups, SMEs, and researchers with free access to cutting-edge computing resources, tools, and expertise. The initiative aims to drive innovation, develop AI models, and enhance Europe’s capabilities in critical areas such as healthcare, energy, and climate.

More information about the EuroHPC JU can be found in Council Regulation (EU) 2021/1173, as amended in July 2024 by Council Regulation (EU) 2024/1732.
