LUMI AI Factory Hub Ostrava is officially open
5 mins read
On 12 May 2026, the LUMI AI Factory Hub Ostrava officially opened its doors, marking a significant milestone for the Czech and European AI landscapes. Located in close proximity to IT4Innovations National Supercomputing center and VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, this physical space serves as the central point where all components of the AI Factory ecosystem converge.
The Hub is designed to be a vibrant, flexible, and modern environment that fosters a living community for those working with artificial intelligence. It provides a dedicated space for experimenting, implementing, and scaling AI-driven projects, whether AI is the core service or a tool used to solve specific industrial points.

Key benefits of the Hub include:
- Access to the LUMI AI Factory services: Integrating users directly with high-performance AI resources.
- Networking opportunities: Connecting residents with leading scientists, experts, and innovators.
- Community and growth: Participation in expert workshops, community events, and international collaboration with other AI Factories across Europe.
Hub’s facilities
The LUMI AI Factory Hub Ostrava consists of four specialised rooms designed to support various types of collaboration. The largest area, where the opening event took place, serves as a coworking space as well as the hub for workshops and community gatherings.
The remaining three rooms are located within the IT4Innovations building:
- Two private consultation rooms tailored for meetings and strategic discussions with partner companies.
- A dedicated AI Campus designed specifically for students to foster the next generation of AI talent.

Who is it for?
The Hub is aimed at a diverse range of actors within the AI ecosystem:
- AI startups: Companies where AI is the fundamental core of their technology or product.
- SMEs and corporations: Small and medium-sized enterprises looking to develop pilot projects or their own AI solutions.
- Public institutions: Organisations that strengthen the Czech innovation framework.
As part of a publicly funded European initiative, access to these services is free of charge for organisations based in EuroHPC JU participating countries.
Current phase and next steps
In its current launch phase, the Hub is primarily serving as a venue for AI Factory-related events, such as workshops, training sessions, and expert presentations.
The space will eventually fully transition into a coworking hub featuring 32 workspaces. This will include:
- Day passes: Flexible options for visitors from other regions or short-term work needs.
- Fixed desks: Dedicated spaces with privacy screens and monitors for long-term residents.
- Community tables: Shared spaces designed for collaboration.

Opening day highlights
The launch event provided a deep dive into the strategic vision of the project. Tereza Malíková, the Coordinator of the Ostrava AI Factory Hub, alongside with Martin Duda and Matěj Novák, the LUMI AI Factory’s Key-account manager, introduced the overall concept, detailing how the space will operate as a bridge between local innovation and the wider European AI ecosystem.
During the event, selected company representatives presented projects developed in collaboration with the LUMI AI Factory.
- MyPaperWork (EU Blue Card Knowledge Engine) presented by Vit Liechtenstein: This project leverages HPC resources to train multi-language models that analyse legal texts from 25 EU Member States, creating a knowledge engine to simplify the complex application process for highly skilled international workers.
- Vectorama presented by Marianna Barčák Hajná: The partnership focuses on developing “Albert”, an AI-driven assistant for railway infrastructure designers, which utilises the LUMI supercomputer to develop secure solution to process sensitive technical documentation and automate project reports in compliance with industry standards.

This afternoon also featured speakers who discussed the key role of the hub within the Czech AI ecosystem:
- Lenka Kučerová: A prominent figure in the Czech AI ecosystem and a representative of prg.ai and CNAIP (Czech National AI Platform). She discussed the importance of connecting local AI hubs with top-tier European research centres, highlighting the growth of the “Days of AI” initiative and the role of national cooperation in enhancing regional competitiveness.
- Dalibor Mráz: Representing CERNA.AI, a platform for AI Innovation and Education, he spoke about the role of the AI Factory Hub as a Regional Partner. His presentation focused on the collaboration between the hub and the Black Cube (the upcoming Moravian-Silesian Research Library project) and how CERNA.AI contributes to building a strong regional foundation for AI innovation and digital transformation.
Last but not least, Tomáš Martinovič, a Senior Researcher from the Advanced Data Analysis and Simulations Lab at the IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center, introduced the AI Training App. This application, built on the LEXIS platform, is designed to simplify the process of training AI models on supercomputers.
Attendees were given a first look at how the Hub aims to increase awareness of AI Factory services while building a diverse community where members enrich one another’s work and push the boundaries of what is possible.
We look forward to seeing the innovations that will emerge from this new collaborative space. See the Ostrava AI Factory Hub page and familiarise yourself with the other possibilitites of the space.
